Monday 27th November 2017

For our first lesson, we had a drama lesson with Rob. For our starter we was told to sit in a circle and imagine. For example, imagine our watches broke and we had to fix them. We then got given a piece of paper with a couple lines on it and we had to make a short scene out of that. This helped us as we learnt how to act out a short play.

For our second lesson, we had wrote up units 1-4 for our blogs. We then went into a skills and audit list:

Unit 1: skills audit list

  • Articulation
  • Spacial awareness
  • Stage presence
  • Punctuality
  • Listening
  • Projection
Unit 2: Engaging with an audience

Characteristics of an audience:

  • Ethnicity
  • Culture
  • Age
  • Health literacy
  • Socio-eheights
  • Beliefs
  • Disability
  • Sexuality
  • Lifestyle

Monday 13th November 2017

For our first lesson, we started from scene 12 where Tybalt and Mercutio got slained by Romeo. We spent some time on this scene as it was one of the most powerful/effective scenes due to two of the main from both sides of the family getting slained by Tybalt and Romeo. This scene was very good as it showed the feud between both of the families. We then went through the rest of the play to see how it looks and to see if we can change anything else to make it more better. So we went through the play adding in more stuff in each of the scenes. This helps us as it gets us more familiar with each of the scenes.

For our second lesson, we had another drama lesson but this time with Sharon. She told us to work from scene 12 again and work our way to the end with us showing what we did with Rob. Once we showed her she began changing things in each scenes and focused on one scene to ensure that it was perfect. We focused mainly on the scene where juliet and Romeo see eachother again after Romeo slays Tybalt. We did this because it was the most effective scene as Juliet had to choose between leaving her husband for killing her cousin or stay with Romeo and forget about Tybalt. But as usual she chose Romeo over Tybalt.

Tuesday 14th November 2017

For our first lesson, we had a production lesson with Sharon.
We was told to start on our blogs to get them upto date. This is useful as it helps us to finish any work that we need to finish off for our blogs.

For our second lesson, we had a drama lesson with Rob. For our starter, we were told to stand in a circle and warm-up. We then was told to do some stretches to warm ourselves up. We then went straight into rehearsal of our play Romeo and Juliet, where this time we started from the scene where Tybalt dies to the end of the play where Romeo and Juliet dies. This is crucial as if enables us to learn about the ending of the play and the way we need to act.

Wednesday 15th November 2017

For our first lesson, we had a drama lesson with Sharon where we were told to stand in a circle and do a warm-up as a group. Warm-ups help us to get ready for a performance. This also enables us to do good in performances due to us being warmed up. We then went straight on to the rehearsal. We started from the first scene where u see the feud between both families. But at the start the prince stopped it. This shows the priority that the prince has over them as he is part of the Royal family. This also shows the respect that he gets due to him be such upper class.

Thursday 16th November 2017

For our first lesson, we had a blog lesson with Sharon. We were told to write up what we did in each of our performing and production arts lessons.

For our second lesson, we had a drama lesson with Rob. For our starter, we had a quick warm-up where we had to stand in a circle in drama neutral and do a vocal warm up.  This helps us to project our voices and it helps us with our articulation. Then we went straight into the rehearsal from the first scene to the last scene. For example, from the feud scene at the start of the play to the scene where Romeo and Juliet die together. This helps us to get more familiar with the play and for is to learn the scenes more better. This also helps us to understand the stage directions even more.

For our last lesson, we had a drama lesson with sharon.
For our warm up we did a quick vocal warm up to get us started for when we rehearse. We did vocal warm because it helps us with our articulation on our words. After that we went straight into rehearsal with Sharon  told us to carry on from the scenes we did with Rob. She done this because she wants to improve our scenes. We did it several times to ensure that everyone knows what they are meant to do in that scene.

Wednesday 1st November 2017

For our first lesson, we had a rehearsal lesson on our own. We worked from the party scene to the end of the play. We started from scene 12 and got up to scene 13. We started with Tybalt and mercutio meeting each other and getting in a brawl. We focused on this scene because it shows the rotten feud that both families have. This also shows that both families were not aware of the love between romeo and Juliet.

Thursday 2nd November 2017

For our first lesson we had a tutorial lesson with Sharon where we were told to update our blogs.

For our first lesson

Thursday, 16 November 2017

Monday 6th November 2017

For our first lesson we had a drama lesson with Rob. We done quick warm ups, such as, everyone taking in turns to do a warm up and then everyone had to copy. This is effective as it helps everyone to warm up and get ready for the lesson. We then started to rehearse through the party scene to see how it looks and what we need to ad in to make it better.  We then rehearsed the scene again but this time Rob made us develop a dance for the party scene to make it look better rather than us just walking in. This effective as it helps us and the audience to understand that its a party and we came to have a good time.  We then went straight into the party scene and started drinking and having fun but in the background no one realised romeo noticing Juliet and it is love at first sight for them. Then Tybalt notices Romeo and goes on a big strop to his father telling him that a Montague came to their party. We then was told to work on the fighting scene because it did not look realistic. Rob told Tybalt to underplay it due to him being serious and to stiff and he was not very calm.

For our second lesson we had a drama lesson with Sharon. We were first told to warm up as everyone was quite tired and not focused. So we did some vocal warm ups and stretches to help us get ready for the play. We were then told to rehearse from scene 1 to the end so Sharon could give us notes about what we done. After we performed our play to her she gave us a couple notes, which were, Scene 1:
The strong scenes that looked good was the
1:balcony scene, Fighting scene and Marriage scene.
The responses that we got from them were

  • Feel confident when on stage
  • Be passionate
  • inner monologue
  • Response to princess speech
  • Make sounds during the fighting scene
Scene 2:

  • Their was good energy with Capulet and Paris.
Scene 3:

  • Everyone should leave the scenes at the same time as it makes it more effective and easier to understand.
Party scene:

  • Do not forget the dancing and freezes when the scene is going on as when them two are added in it makes it more effective.
  • Avoid the kiss and kill position.
  • End of scene gets smaller due to people leaving.

(was not in because i was ill)

Wednesday 8th November 2017

For our first lesson we had a drama lesson with Sharon. For our starter we were told to sit down in a circle and list up everything that we need from now until the performance. This is effective as it gets us prepared for the performance due to us having a timetable for what we are going to do for each of the days. Most of it was rehearsal due to us wanting it to be perfect. But the one most important thing that we need to do is the dress rehearsal on 15th November for our play as it will help us all see what each person is wearing and to see how it will look with costumes. We then started from the fighting scene and incorporated everything we had in to it to make sure that it was up to date. We then worked on scene 21 where romeo and Juliet die and then both families come out from each side and see what their feud has put both and Juliet through due to their love for each other.

Thursday 9th November 2017

For our first lesson we had a tutorial lesson with Sharon where we was told to blog about what we did in each of our lessons.

For our second lesson, we had a drama lesson with Rob. For our starter we followed on from what we did with Sharon. This helps us as it gets us more familiar with the play. We started working from the party scene to wards the ending of the play as them scenes needed the most work on them. This helps us to understand the rest of the play a bit more as we have been working from the first scene to the party scene. We started to act it out with Rob stopping and starting us to change little bits.

For our last lesson, We had a drama lesson with Sharon. For our starter she told us to stand in a circle so we can do a warm up. We started off with a vocal- warm up. This helps us as it gets us ready for our rehearsal due to it helping with our projection if our voices and our articulation. We then went straight into rehearsal but this time we started from the first scene as we wanted everything to be good in the first scene. We kept on the first scene as it helped us remember the first scene very well and learn the new cues that we was getting. We also stayed on this first scene for quite a while as it was effective to watch and it had an effect on the audience.
